SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Are you looking for something different to do? This week’s column offers a couple of ways to forget about winter blahs, chilly temperatures and gray -- even grayer -- skies.

In fact, you will be so energized if you venture out, spring will sail in and even dock here before you know it. There is nothing like a sense of flow, of fun and of purpose to help a sense of connection flower.

Tired of cleaning? Maybe it’s thyme to turn over a new leaf. Consider the possibilities of “Herbal Home Keeping: How to Keep a Naturally Clean Home,” presented by “Mrs. Herb Cleaner” (not her real name), who has gathered together the best of the best of alternatives.

Some know her as Kathleen Gips. She is full of sage advice on how you can blossom as an herbal-savvy home cleaner!

Mark your calendar for 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Highland Heights Community Center, 5827 Highland Road.

Gips has been growing and writing about herbs for over 40 years, and is full of knowledge about these amazing plants and their many benefits. Perhaps you have seen her on Channel 8’s New Day Cleveland.

Make time (thyme?) to learn how to clean your entire home with only four ingredients. And, did you know that the herbs in your garden are stronger at killing bacteria than commercial cleaners?

Yes, Gips is an entertaining speaker, too. I hope she will forgive, even forget, my puns. Green living is serious business -- but it can be fun. Spread the news! Please do invite a friend to this free program brought to you by the Highland Heights Green Task Force.
