Local preschool makes reading fun for kids - WIBW

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A local preschool thought of a fun way to make reading fun for kids.

Monday was Literacy Day at Countryside United Methodist Preschool. Kids were able to bring their favorite books from home and dress up as their characters.

Countryside Director Eddie Kidd says early literacy has been shown to lead to long-term success.

"It shows that as they move on in their journey in education that if you introduce early, the literacy skills to them, then they're more successful later in school, and it helps them appreciate, understand, and learn to love to read," Kidd said.

Some notable guests included Pete the Cat, Charlie Brown, and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
