MECOSTA COUNTY — Fall is in full swing at area farms, with pumpkins, corn mazes, apple cider and more.

Here are some farms to check out for your fall favorites.

FOUR GREEN FIELDS FARM

Ready to get lost in a field of corn? Four Green Fields Farm recently opened its annual corn maze. Since 2007, the farm has been a one stop shop for fall fun for all ages. In addition to the maze, there will be u-pick pumpkins and horse-drawn wagon rides.

The fun happens every weekend, from noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and 2-5 p.m. Sundays, through Oct. 31. Admission to the corn maze is $3 per person, with kids ages 5 and younger free. Wagon rides are $2, and pumpkin prices range from $3-5.

Feeling brave? The farm’s haunted maze will be open 8-10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 8-30. Admission will be $4. For more information, visit www.fourgreenfieldsfarm.com and their Facebook page.

GRANT'S FAMILY FARM

Looking for pumpkins and other fall decorations? Grant’s Family Farm has pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks and other fall decorations. In additions, you can still get sweet corn, tomatoes, winter squash and potatoes.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Check out their Facebook page for updates.

HEARTY HARVEST

The farmers at Hearty Harvest plant thousands of pumpkins in a variety of colors, all ripe for decorating, carving and eating. This year, the Ferris State Police Academy helped harvest the crop.

The farm also sells mums, straw, cornstalks and seasonal produce. They are open daily. Check out their Facebook page for updates

LEEANN'S FLOWERS AND VEGETABLES

LeeAnn’s Flowers has recently reopened to sell pumpkins and mums. Pumpkins start at $1, and they are available on the front porch 24 hours a day, based on the honor system. Owner LeeAnn LeGree has a 24-hour drop box and a Venmo QR code.

“It’s my version of self-checkout,” LeGree told the Pioneer earlier this year.

THE PURPLE PEPPER

The Purple Pepper, in Barryton, sells more than just peppers. The farmer’s market sells a variety of apples, including honey crisps, McIntosh, gala, Paula reds and ginger gold. Apple cider from Anderson and Girls is also on sale for $7.50 a gallon and $5 a half gallon.

Don’t feel like driving to Barryton? The Purple Pepper frequents the Big Rapids Farmers’ Market, as well as in Chippewa Lake. For when and where, check out their Facebook page.

SAENZ GREENHOUSE'S AND PRODUCE

Need some apples? Saenz sells them by the bushel. Get a quart of Gala apples for $3, $8 for a half peck and $15 for a half bushel. Saenz also sells honey crisp apples, mums, pumpkins, squash, red potatoes, straw bales and late autumn star peaches.

They are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

THE WINERY AT YOUNG'S FARM

If you like a kick in your cider, try The Winery at Young’s Farm in Mecosta. In addition to wine, it has a variety of ciders, such as Them Apples, Hippity Hoppity, Herbal Remedy, Babymaker and Sweet Cinner.

Sip a glass while enjoying live music, weather permitting, or fill up a growler. Fall hours are 1-7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday until Oct. 30. For more information, visit www.thewineryatyoungfarms.com or their Facebook page.
