Plan now for closed and crowded streets during Sunday’s Shamrock Run - OregonLive

bulukarga.blogspot.com

A sea of green-clad runners takes over Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Southwest Naito Parkway and various other streets Sunday morning for the return of the annual Shamrock Run.

Prior runs have enticed as many as 25,000 runners, joggers, and walkers to participate in the first big fun run of the season. This year’s number of registered runners has not been announced, but odds are crowds will be large as this is the first run in two years.

There are several courses including a 15k and a half marathon. The first run kicks off around 8 a.m. Sunday, March 13. Officials will begin to close streets and lanes about 6:30 a.m. and the event should wrap up around 1 p.m.

TriMet expects many runners and others will use buses and MAX trains to make their way to Waterfront Park. If you normally use TriMet on a Sunday morning, expect crowds and possible delays. Some bus lines will detour along the race routes. Check your bus schedule for any schedule delays or closed stops; www.trimet.org

Travelers may see delays and detours through the waterfront area downtown and also southwest of town on Southwest Barbur and Terwilliger boulevards and on Capitol Highway. To avoid delays choose another route into or out of downtown.
